Tax Receiver

My name is Theresa Kiernan, and I am seeking election as the Southampton Town Tax Receiver in November.  I grew up in Southampton, and graduated from Southampton High School in 1986.  I received a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from Providence College in 1991, and an MBA in Finance from Fordham University in 1998. 

After completing college, I began my banking career with the Bank of New York in New York City, where I spent 10 years and worked my way to Vice President of Private Banking.  From BNY, I decided to return to Southampton, and worked with Suffolk County National Bank, also as Vice President of Private Banking.  That position led me to become a Financial Advisor with Merrill Lynch.  At this time I am a Deputy Tax Receiver for Town of Southampton, which has given me a great opportunity to learn the functions and responsibilities of being the Tax Receiver. 

Since returning to Southampton, I have been very active in volunteering for local organizations.  Most notably, I am a member of the Board of Directors for Southampton Rotary Club, and the Treasurer for Water Mill Community Club.
